I feel it is important when you come to a therapist you feel comfortable with them as a person, as well as have confidence in their skills and abilities to help you.
I feel there are two key ingredients in a therapist's training:
There is no doubt in my mind that it is not just the 'therapy' that helps a person get well. It is the 'therapist' that makes the difference. And the key ingredient here is FEELING SAFE with your therapist.
In order to feel safe, you will need to feel - both consciously and unconsciously - that you will not be judged, criticised, punished or made to feel bad in any way. For the emotional body there is nothing worse than feeling bad, as this can equate at a deep level to not feeling deserving to live.
Often we will find that not being allowed to be our authentic selves is actually at the core of our illness. The more safe you feel, the more you will be able to open to being your AUTHENTIC SELF, which greatly enhances your healing progress.
A major key for personal evolution and self-transformation is the ability to be honest. This means with yourself just as much as others! During treatment it is essential you feel that you can be as open and honest with your therapist as you possibly can. This will help your progress immensely. Being honest, despite the fact that it can take great vulnerability and courage to do so, lifts huge weights off our chests, literally and metaphorically.
Because I have had to do (and continue to do) a great deal of soul-searching, emotional healing and honesty-finding over the last 20 years, I fully understand what this feels like. I hope you will feel comfortable enough for me to be able unconditionally accept you fully as you are so that we can move forward together in your healing.
In 2006 I attended Dr Mickel's professional training. At the time, I had no intention of becoming a therapist. I attended purely out of curiosity, as I had already spent years learning about chronic fatigue and stress and how to overcome these disorders, and was fascinated about anything to do with these conditions.
Despite the fact that I had spent so much time studying these illnesses on my journey to overcome them myself, I had never heard of a therapy which said it dealt specifically with chronic fatigue without supplements or medication. It was too good an opportunity to miss.
During the training I discovered that even though I thought I had a pretty good handle on understanding the causes of chronic illness, there were areas in myself that I had been missing. Not only does Mickel Therapy pinpoint with accuracy the cause of these chronic conditions, it also has step-by-step tools to get well. I am of course now very grateful for having attended the training, as it has led me on a new path, and given my another set of life tools for myself and clients.
I am currently a member of SNTR, the Society of Natural Therapists and Researchers, who are in turn an affiliate of the Charter of Natural Health Practitioners, THE umbrella organization in New Zealand (and Australasia) for recognition of professional accreditation as a therapist.
As a Qi Gong Instructor I am also a member of WUHTIF, the world wide affiliation for the Universal Healing Tao of Mantak Chia.
In the past I was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, but found this was only really beneficial for large corporations and businesses.
I often attend business network meetings such as Her Business, The World Business Network and Waitakere's Women Out West.
Since 1995 I have trained in various healing modalities, all as a result of needing to find answers for myself. Nowadays, I still continue my training, as it is imperative to keep exploring and moving forward with one's personal growth. Every nugget of information that I learn is passed on to clients as I love to share what I have learnt, especially when it is mind-blowingly useful.
My other training includes:
Qi Gong - Internal Energy Cultivation
Chi Nei Tsang Abdominal Healing Massage
Massage
Energy Healing and Feng Shui
Flower Essences
