Hypothalamus Gland and Hypothalamitis

Hypothalamus Gland

The hypothalamus is a part of the brain roughly the size of an almond. It is part of the endocrine system in the body, which is resonsible for inter-communication between all organ systems. One of the Hypothalamus's most important functions is to link the nervous system with the endocrine system via the pituitary gland. It is also responsible for several metabolic processes and activities of the autonomic nervous system, such as controlling body temperature, hunger, thirst, fatigue and circadian rythmns.

Hypothalamus and Hypothalamitis

Hypothalamitis

Hypothalamitis is a hypothesis by Dr David Mickel, founder of Mickel Therapy. He sees Hypothalamitis as a dysfunction of the Hypothalamus gland, wherebye the Hypothalamus is in a sense 'inflamed'. He believes that this is the reason for experiencing the physiological symptoms of chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, insomnia, anxiety etc. Often this will be experienced like a 'buzzing' sensation in the brain, with the feeling of not being to 'switch off'. Mickel Therapy describes this as the Hypothalamus working in overdrive.

In Mickel Therapy terms, if one is experiencing theses symptoms, it is symptomatic of the fact that the hypothalamus is out of balance. Since the hypothalamus is a master endocrine gland, if it is out of sync, all other systems of the body will also be affected at some level.

In order to heal from Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Stress etc, one needs to understand that the malfuctioning of the Hypothalamus and its associated symptoms are the end result of other circumstances. In other words, if your Hypothalamus is in overdrive, this is not the cause of your problems - it is the end result of something else.

The body is far too intelligent to make mistakes, and the Hypothalamus does not randomly malfunction without reason. The beauty of Mickel Therapy is that reveals to you the underlying cause of the imbalance, so that you understand why your body is sending you symptoms. Mickel Therapy then gives you the tools to heal yourself so that your Hypothalamus can return to a balanced state of homeostasis.

Dr Mickel hopes that the result of his current Randomised Controlled Clinical Trial will show this, and make the treatment available to all Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia sufferers. Dr Mickel’s book - Chronic Fatigue, ME, Fibromyalgia - The Long Awaited Cure explains the symptoms of Fibromyalgia in these terms.

Please note that Mickel Therapy's hypothesis of 'Hypothalamtis' and success stories are based on recovery experienced by clients who have used the Mickel Therapy techniques. Whilst many clients have recovered, as shown by client testimonials, the results have yet to be backed up by medical research. A clinical trial is currently underway, the results of which will be disseminated when the study is complete.
